WELCOME HOME.
A luxe cottage rental in the Leelanau Peninsula
WHILE YOU’RE HERE
-
A big HELLO, and THANK YOU for choosing Stillwater Cottage for your stay in Omena. We hope you love Stillwater as much as we do! We’ve spent the good part of a year curating this experience for you. Pour yourself a drink using the vintage glassware in the bar. Sink into the couch in the lake room and enjoy the view and the cozy fireplace. Whip up a delicious meal in the kitchen. Tag us on Instagram and brag to all of your friends about your awesome stay @stillwatercottage.
A few gentle reminders:
Absolutely no smoking. Duh.
Gross but we have to say it. The plumbing here is septic and delicate. Toilet paper only please, no wipes or tampons. Also our toilet paper is made from bamboo. It’s more sustainable and better for the environment but a little scratchier than Charmin.
Omena is super chill. Please respect our neighbors by also being super chill between the hours of 10pm-8am.
There are dishwasher safe plastic cutting boards for raw meat food prep. The wood cutting boards are hand-wash only and for making a killer cheeseboard to go with that glass of wine you just poured.
We know your momma raised you right, but just in case, please no shoes on the furniture.
There are makeup wipes in the bathrooms for your pretty faces. Please use these and the dark washcloths provided when taking off your makeup. Speaking of those clean white towels, please keep them away from the beach as they don’t like to get tan. There are striped beach towels in the hall closet if you need them.
Pets are not permitted (we do think pets are cute though, so if ya wanna send us pics of your dog we will ooh and ahh over them). Speaking of other unwanted guests, please note…midges are the annoying (harmless), flying black insects that terrorize Michigan in the spring and summer. On behalf of mother nature, we apologize if you find them swarming around. Pretend you’re in a National Geographic documentary…ahhh nature. They’re fish food and we love fish!

Turn on the fireplaces?
Turn on the fireplace in the Lake Room by flipping the on switch on the back top right corner to ON. Turn the knob to adjust heat.
The fireplace in the dining room is controlled by the black remote mounted to the wall to the left of the fireplace. Follow the instructions on the back of the remote. You need to get close to the fireplace level to turn it on. The receiver is in the bottom left corner of the fireplace. It will flash red when connecting to the remote.
Turn on the air conditioning?
A/C minisplits are controlled by remote, mounted in each room. Please turn the A/C off if windows are open/fans are on.
Turn on the fans?
The fans in the Lake Room and the Lounge are controlled by remote, but you will need to first make sure the wall switch is on for both the fan and the light.
Run the washer/dryer?
Just like a computer, press the power button to turn on the washer or dryer. Select your cycle. If you select “normal” the machine will calibrate the cycle for you. Toss a tide pod into the drum. If you’re using liquid laundry detergent, pour it into the pull out drawer to no more than the max fill line. You only need to use a very small amount of detergent with this machine. Please do not overfill your garments in the machine drum when doing a load of laundry. To press start, hold the arrow button for 3 seconds.
Please leave washing machine door ajar when not in use. There is a magnet that keeps it partially opened.
Watch TV?
The smart TV allows you to login to your own accounts.
Connect to Sonos speakers?
Download the Sonos app, connect to wifi and make sure your bluetooth is on. Open the app and you should be able to connect automatically. The speakers are located in the Lake Room and in the Lounge.
Show off my grilling skills?
There’s a grill just outside the kitchen backdoor and propane is provided. Please keep covered when not in use.
And my s’mores skills?
Firewood is available for purchase just steps away on the corner of Isthmus + M22.
